Lifeline or 112 Phone Notice

Caution:

This is not a lifeline, or 112 phone.

If you dial 112 on your display telephone, when the telephone is connected to the remote unit and linket through
the gateway, you will reach the 112 facility that serves the location of the switch side facility and not the location
of your remote unit. To ensure that you reach the correct 112 service for your area, use a telephone connected
locally.

Important safety instructions

To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock , and injury to persons when installing telephone equipment,
always follow basic safety precautions including:

Read and understand all instructions.

Follow all warnings and instructions marked on or packed with the product.

Never install this unit, or the telephone wiring for it, during a lightning storm.

Never install a telephone jack in a wet location unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.

Never touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone wiring has been disconnected
at the network interface.

Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.

Do not install this product near water, for example, in a wet basement location.

Do not overload wall outlets, as this can result in the risk of fire or electrical shock.

Do not attach the power supply cord to building surfaces. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord.
Do not locate this product where the cord will be abused by persons walking on it.

Unplug the product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use
cleaners or aerosol cleaners.

Do not operate the system if chemical gas leakage is suspected in the area. Use telephones located in some
other safe area to report the trouble.

Do not open the DEX28 units. There are no user servicable parts inside. Only an authorized technician
should open the unit for required maintenance or upgrading purposes.

Quality of Service (QoS) Requirements

It is very important that the IP network infrastructure and traffic should be analyzed prior to installation and a
proper Quality of Service (QoS) mechanism should be implemented to ensure high voice quality when connecting
DEX28 systems via an IP network.
Therefore, a site survey should be done to ensure that all parties agree on the required actions needed to run high
quality VoIP in the customer's LAN/WAN environment.
When introducing DEX28 systems via an IP network, it is necessary to ensure that the LAN and WAN are suitable
for handling both the traffic volume, as well as, the highest IP quality Type of Service (ToS).
The best option for achieving the highest QoS and security between DEX28 systems is when a customer's LAN and
WAN are set up for Layer 3 ToS (Type of Service) prioritization and/or Layer 2 CoS (Class of Service) in
accordance with IEEE 802.1Q, and the appropriate bandwidth has been allocated to handle both Voice and Data.
