SET UP

5.01

For a detailed description on the set up of the Penn Reader test station please

refer to document 433–405–733

.

When testing Sharp/Japan UUTs, remove the reverse 405–733–714 SMA adapters from

the RF cables.  The optional 405–733–715 SMA slide–on adapters may be installed on

the RF cables and on the 405–733–711 50 Ohm terminations if desired.

5.02

Be sure that the power switch of the test fixture is set to the ON (upward) posi-

tion.  The green LED labeled ”FIXTURE” should be lit.

5.03

Be sure that the Frequency Counter is turned on and that the A/B Switch is set to

the RS232 position.

5.04

If necessary, boot the test station computer to the Windows desktop.

5.05

Run the Penn Reader or Pitt Reader test program by double–clicking on the ”Penn

Reader Test” or “Pitt Reader Test” icon.  A message may appear telling you that

the test fixture has no power. If this happens verify that the fixture’s power switch

is set to ON and that all cables are plugged in correctly. If all this is done but the

voltage displayed is low then you may need to adjust the 851–027–001 power

supply’s output voltage. Remove the plastic cap next to the supply’s circular con-

nector and tweak the exposed potentiometer clockwise until the power warning

window disappears. A very small tweak is all that is needed. Replace the cap

when done.

5.06

The main test window will appear followed by the “Specify Test Environment”

labeled window.
Choose the test environment that is most appropriate. To do this, click on the text

box and then click on the appropriate test environment to highlight.  After choos-

ing the appropriate test environment click on OK.  Note that the default environ-

ment that comes up is set in the PENNRDR.INI or PittRdr.ini file.
Note:   Whenever this document says to ”click on OK” you may use the mouse to

left–click on the OK button or you can press the <space bar> or the <Enter> key

on the keyboard if the button has the focus (a dotted box around the word OK).

5.07

Now a window will appear with the header ”CVI Test Executive Login”.  Simply

click on OK. You do not need to enter a Login name or password.
