4.5.3 Impellers
The standard stirrer for bacterial cultures has 2 Rushton impellers
with 6 blades. The impellers are made of PEEK.
Exception for 400 mL vessels: two blade impellers with 6 blades
made of 316L are used here.
The standard stirrer for cell cultures has pitched blade impellers
with 3 blades that produce an upward flow.
The number of impellers depends on the size of the vessel:

400 mL & 700 mL: 2 pitched blade impeller

1000 mL: 1 pitched blade impeller
The impellers are made of 316L stainless steel.
Cell-lift impellers with 6 blades are also available as an optional ex-
tra.
