Use the button SOLO (26) next to the con-
trol AUX SEND 2 to monitor the effect way via
headphones or a control room monitor sys-
tem and check it via the level indication (43)
section b) in chapter 5.6.
7) Add the effect signal with the control
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (37) to the master
channels assigned via the routing button
(38). With this control the effect intensity can
be adjusted for all channels together.
8) If the master channels ALT 3 – 4 are not
used, the routing button (38) can be used to
mute the effect signal for the Main Mix, e. g.
to change quickly between the mix without
effects and with effects.
5.5.2 External effect unit
The effect unit must be connected via an Aux
send output and an Aux Return input (or line
input of a free input channel).
1) To be able to hear the following effect adjust-
ments, set the respective output control and
input control approx. to mid-position for the
time being:
depending on the output used
control AUX SEND 1 (25)
or
control AUX SEND 2 (27)
depending on the input used
control STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (35)
or
control STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (37)
or
fader (15) of the respective input channel
2) If the effect unit is connected to the input
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (20), define with
the routing button (38) if the effect signal is
assigned either to the sum MAIN MIX (button
disengaged) or to the sum ALT 3 – 4 (button
engaged).
3) Depending on the Aux send way used as an
effect way, add the channel signals to the
effect way using the controls AUX (7) [Aux
send way 1] or the controls FX (9) [Aux send
way 2]. With these controls the desired effect
intensity can separately be adjusted for each
channel.
If the Aux send way 1 is used as an effect
way, the buttons PRE (8) must not be
engaged (adjustment “post-fader”).
Note:
If the effect unit is connected to the line input
of an input channel, fully turn back the control AUX
or FX of the channel concerned, otherwise a feed-
back will occur.
4) With the respective AUX SEND output con-
trol (25, 27) adjust the level for the output sig-
nal of the effect way so that the effect unit will
not be overloaded.

SEND control to monitor the effect way via
headphones or a control room monitor sys-
tem and check it via the level indication (43)
section b) in chapter 5.6.
5) Add the signal coming from the effect unit
with the corresponding input control, with this
control it is possible to adjust the effect inten-
sity for all channels together:
→
if the effect unit is connected to the input
STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (16),
add the effect signal with the left control
STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (35) to the
master channels MAIN MIX;
in addition, the effect signal can be added
to the Aux send way 1 with the right con-
trol STEREO AUX RETURN 1 (36) [e. g. if
this is used as a monitor way].

if the effect unit is connected to the input
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (20),
add the effect signal with the control
STEREO AUX RETURN 2 (37) to the
master channels MAIN MIX or ALT 3 – 4,
depending on the position of the routing
button (38).

If the effect unit is connected to the line
input of an input channel,
add the effect signal with the correspond -
ing channel fader (15) to the master chan-
nels MAIN MIX or ALT 3 – 4, de pending
on the position of button MUTE ALT 3 – 4

5.6 Monitoring via headphones
and control room monitor system
To monitor via headphones connected to the
jack PHONES (23) and a control room monitor
system at the CONTROL ROOM outputs (54),
the following signals may be selected:
a) the signal of each input channel
b) the total signal of each Aux send way
c) the input signal of the jacks CD / TAPE INPUT
(18) and of the USB jack (46)
d) the output signal of the alternative master
channels ALT 3 – 4
e) the output signal of the main master channels
MAIN MIX
The level indication (43) always shows the level
of the signal selected for monitoring. The head-
phone volume and the output level of the jacks
CONTROL ROOM OUT (54) are adjusted with
the control PHONES / CTRL R (39).
a) To monitor an
input channel
, press the but-
ton SOLO (14) of the channel. To indicate
that the monitoring function for the channel is
switched on, the LED CLIP (13) lights up. In
addition, above the button MODE (44), one of
the two LEDs lights up to show which of the
two monitoring modes, “SOLO” or “PFL”, is
presently selected:

With the button MODE disengaged,
“SOLO” is activated, the red LED MAIN
SOLO lights up. This monitoring mode
can be used to check the complete chan-
nel adjustment: The channel signal is
monitored
after the fader (15) and the
panorama or balance control (10) and dis-
played (stereo).

With the button MODE engaged, “PFL”
(“pre fader listening”) is activated, the
green LED PFL lights up. This monitoring
mode can be used for level adjustment of
a channel: The channel signal is moni-
tored
ahead of the fader and the
panorama or balance control and dis-
played (mono).
Select the desired monitoring mode with the
button MODE.
b) To monitor an
Aux send way
, press the cor-
responding button SOLO (26):
for the Aux send way 1 the SOLO button next
to the control AUX SEND 1 (25),
for the Aux send way 2 the SOLO button next
to the control AUX SEND 2 (27).
Above the button MODE (44) one of the two
LEDs lights up. Differently from monitoring
the input channels, the button MODE has no
effect on the monitoring mode: each Aux
send way is always monitored
after the
respective AUX SEND control. When actuat-
ing the button MODE only the indication is
changed: the mono signal of the Aux send
way is displayed either on the left and right
(button disengaged) or on the left only (button
engaged).
c) To monitor the
input signal of the jacks
CD/ TAPE INPUT (18) and of the USB jack
(46)
, e. g. to check a recording, press the but-
ton 2-TR / USB (28).
d) To monitor the
master channels ALT 3 – 4
(post-fader), press the button ALT 3 – 4 (29).
e) To monitor the
master channels MAIN MIX
(post-fader), press the button MAIN MIX (30).
When selecting the monitoring source:
The buttons SOLO (14, 26) take priority over the
SOURCE buttons (28, 29, 30), i. e. when at least
one button SOLO is engaged, the signals se -
lected with the buttons SOURCE are not moni-
tored / displayed. However, the buttons SOURCE
are all of the same priority, i. e. if they are
engaged at the same time, the mixed signal of
the corresponding sources is monitored and dis-
played.
