Ejecting Floppy Disks on a Macintosh
1. Click the floppy disk icon once to highlight the icon.
2. Select “Eject” from the “Special” menu, or “Put Away” from the “File” menu.
(Alternatively, you can simply drag the floppy disk icon to the Trash.)
3. Wait for the green light (status indicator LED) on the front panel of the
Imation USB Floppy Disk Drive to turn off.
4. Push the Eject button on the front panel of the Imation USB Floppy Drive
to eject the floppy disk.
Ejecting Floppy Disks on a PC
1. Wait for the green light (status indicator LED) on the front panel of the
Imation USB Floppy Disk Drive to turn off.
2. Push the Eject button on the front panel of the Imation USB Floppy Drive
to eject the floppy disk.
Connecting and Disconnecting the USB Cable
You can plug the USB cable into a USB port while the power to the computer
is turned on. This is called a “Hot Plug.” Before you disconnect the cable from
the USB port, remove the floppy disk from the drive.
Drive Head Cleaning
To ensure optimum drive performance, clean the read/write head after every
40 to 80 hours of operation. No other maintenance is required.
Follow these guidelines:
• Operate the drive in a clean, dust-free environment
• Never apply a lubricant to the drive
The drive’s recording heads may be cleaned using a suitable head cleaning
diskette. Either wet or dry types are acceptable.
