1. The ideal material for cutlery and accessories
in microwave ovens is material that is transpar-
ent for microwaves, so that energy can pass
through them and heat the food.
2. Microwaves cannot pass through metal, so
metal cutlery, metal containers and plates with
metal decoration must not be used.
3. Do not use products made of recycled paper
for cooking food in the microwave, as they may
contain small metal fragments that can cause
sparks and fires.
4. Round or oval plates are recommended rather
than square or rectangular ones, as food in the
corner tends to overcook.
5. Small strips of aluminum foil can be used to
prevent exposed areas from overcooking. But
make sure you do not use too much, and keep a
distance of 2.5 cm between the foil and the inner
wall of the oven.
