10. If you are instructed to return the hard disk drive backplane, follow all

packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are
supplied to you.

Installing the 3U chassis hard disk drive backplane

To install the 3U chassis hard disk drive backplane, complete the following steps.

1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the hard disk drive backplane

to any

unpainted

metal surface on the outside of the 3U chassis; then, remove

the hard disk drive backplane from the package.

2. Position the hard disk drive backplane in the 3U chassis and secure it with 10

screws.

3. Install the power-supply paddle card and power supply (see “Installing a power

supply in a 3U chassis” on page 176).

4. Install the system-board tray in the 3U chassis (see “Installing the system-board

tray in a 3U chassis” on page 129).

5. Install the fan assembly (see “Installing the 3U chassis fan assembly” on page

150).

6. Install the storage-riser-card assembly and ServeRAID SAS controller (see

“Installing a storage-riser-card assembly, ServeRAID SAS controller, and battery
cable interposer card in a 3U chassis” on page 183).

7. Install the top cover (see“Installing the 3U chassis top cover” on page 137 ).

8. Install the 3U chassis in the iDataPlex rack (see “Installing a 3U chassis in a

Type 7825 iDataPlex rack” on page 191).
