22. Reconnect the external cables and power cords; then, turn on the attached
devices and the computer.
Removing the drive in bay 3
To remove the drive in bay 3, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 79.
2. Turn off the computer and all attached devices; then, disconnect all external
cables and power cords.
3. Remove the side cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 81).
4. Remove the front bezel (see “Removing the bezel” on page 84).
5. Remove the support bracket (see “Removing the support bracket” on page 83).
6. Disconnect the cables from the drive that you are replacing.
7. Rotate the drive cage up.
8. Remove the drive:
a. If the drive is secured with screws, remove the screws and set them in a
safe place.
b. If the drive is secured with a tool-less clip (see Figure 17 on page 92),
remove the clip and set it aside to install on the new drive.
Replacing the drive in bay 3
To install a drive in bay 3, complete the following steps:
Note: Only a 3.5-in. SCSI device can be installed in bay 3.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 79.
2. Make sure that you have all the cables and other equipment specified in the
documentation that comes with the drive.
3. Check the instructions that come with the drive to determine whether you need
to set any switches or jumpers on the drive. Make sure that you set the SCSI
ID for the drive.
4. Turn off the computer and all attached devices; then, disconnect all external
cables and power cords.
5. Remove the side cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 81).
6. Remove the front bezel (see “Removing the bezel” on page 84).
7. Remove the support bracket (see “Removing the support bracket” on page 83).
8. Rotate the drive cage up.
