Top-cover latch difficult to use on servers manufactured prior to 6/14/02
Description: The top-cover latch on some xSeries 440 servers manufactured prior to June
14, 2002 are difficult to operate. Systems manufactured after 6/14/2002 are not affected.
Note: The system chassis is marked with a date on the front left side.
Solution: Replace the cover latch. Order FRU part number 24P1289 for systems that have a
chassis label dated 6/14/2002 or before.
Use a flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool to remove the existing top-cover latch; then, snap
the replacement latch into place.
