W4341 No SAS Switch in Bay 3 No SAS Connectivity Module in bay 3
detected. This could indicate that the
module is failed, absent, or
inappropriately configured.When using
a BC-S chassis, the placement of the
SAS Connectivity Module is critical.
Single Switch Predefined Zones in
BC-S require the module in bay 3. For
the BC-H chassis, you do not have to
install a module in bay 3. However,
installing the module in bay 3 first, then
in bay 4 ensures the first port of the
IBM SAS Expansion Card is used.
1. Ensure that SAS Connectivity
Module is installed in bay 3 and
operational. Refer to IBM
BladeCenter SAS Connectivity
Module documentation for further
information.
2. Ensure that SAS link to the blade is
enabled and a zoning configuration
configured appropriately. Refer to
IBM BladeCenter SAS Connectivity
Module documentation for further
information.
3. Reboot the blade.
4. Power down then remove and
reinstall the blade server in the
BladeCenter unit.
5. Remove and reinstall the SAS
Expansion Card.
6. Ensure the SAS Expansion Card
firmware and blade firmware
version compliance.
7. If the error started after a SAS
Expansion Card firmware upgrade
or a blade server firmware
upgrade, consider a rollback to the
previous firmware versions. Check
with the documentation at
http://www.ibm.com/systems/
bladecenter/support/
to verify
whether rollback is possible.
8. Plug the SAS Expansion Card into
another blade server. If the problem
persists, the SAS Expansion Card
may need replacement.
9. Plug a different SAS Expansion
Card into the blade server. If the
problem persists, the blade server
system board may need
replacement.
