Appendix A. Connectors, Cables, and Accessories

ST Connector

The ST (straight-tipped) connector terminates one singlemode or multimode optical
fiber strand. It is available in two types: physical contact and non-physical contact.
A field termination kit is needed to install the connector.

FC/PC Connector

The FC/PC (ferrule connector/physical contact) connector terminates one singlemode
or multimode optical fiber strand. A field termination kit is needed to install the
connector.

BNC Connector

The BNC (bayonet node connector) terminates one singlemode or multimode optical
fiber strand. This connector is not recommended for distribution panel installation.
A field termination kit is needed to install the connector.

SMA Connector

The SMA (straight medium adaptor) connector terminates one optical fiber strand.
A field termination kit is needed to install the connector.
