Step 1
DANGER
An electrical outlet that is not correctly wired could place hazardous voltage
on metal parts of the system or the products that attach to the system. It is the
customer’s responsibility to ensure that the outlet is correctly wired and
grounded to prevent an electrical shock. (RSFTD201)
This step verifies whether the power is operating properly.
1. Make sure that the 7212 Storage Enclosure power cable is plugged into an
electrical outlet.
2. Press the Power On button on the 7212 Storage Enclosure.
3. Check the state of the power On and Fault lights on the front of the 7212
Storage Enclosure.

Off Off Repeat Step 1 several times. If neither light illuminates, then
go to Step 2.
On Off This indicates normal operation. Go to Step 9.
Off On This indicates that there may be a fan failure. Go to Step 8.
Step 2
This step tests the voltage at the electrical outlet.
1. Press the 7212 Storage Enclosure power switch to turn off the power.
2. Unplug the 7212 Storage Enclosure power cable from the electrical outlet and
from the 7212 Storage Enclosure.
3. Measure the voltage at the electrical outlet.
Is the voltage from the electrical outlet correct?
NO
Contact your service personnel for further instructions.
YES Go to Step 3.
Step 3
This step determines whether the power cable is functional.
Make sure that all of the conductors in the power cable have continuity, and that
there are no short circuits.
Does the power cable have continuity and are there no short circuits?
NO
Replace the power cable, then go to Step 1.
YES Go to Step 4.
