Using
the
Boot
Menu
program
The
Boot
Menu
program
is
a
built-in,
menu-driven
configuration
utility
program
that
you
can
use
to
temporarily
redefine
the
first
startup
device
without
changing
settings

Configuration/Setup
Utility
program.
To
use
the
Boot
Menu
program
to
change
the
startup
sequence
of
the
computer,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Turn
off
the
computer.
2.
Restart
the
computer.
3.
Press
F12.
4.
Select
the
startup
device.
The
next
time
the
computer
is
started,
it
returns
to
the
startup
sequence
that
is
set
in
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program.
Enabling
the
Broadcom
NetXtreme
Gigabit
Ethernet
Boot
Agent
The
Broadcom
NetXtreme
Gigabit
Ethernet
Boot
Agent
is
part
of
the
BIOS
code
in
the
computer.
You
can
use
it
to
configure
the
network
as
a
startable
device,
and
you
can
customize
where
the
network
startup
option
appears
in
the
startup
sequence.
You
enable
and
disable
the
Broadcom
NetXtreme
Gigabit
Ethernet
Boot
Agent
from
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program.
To
enable
the
Broadcom
NetXtreme
Gigabit
Ethernet
boot
agent,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
From
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
main
menu,
select
Devices
and
I/O
Ports
and
press
Enter.
2.
Select
Planar
Ethernet
and
use
the
Right
Arrow
(
→
)
key
to
set
it
to
Enabled
.
3.
Set
the
Network-Planar
device
as
the
first
startup
device
under
the
Startup
Option
→
Startup
Sequence
Options
menu
choice
in
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program.
4.
Select
Save
Settings
and
press
Enter.

Adaptec
HostRAID
configuration
programs
Notes:
1.
HostRAID
is
not
supported
on
SCO
6.0
and
UnixWare
7.14
operating
systems.

For
SAS
and
Ultra320
SCSI
models,
SATA
HostRAID
must
be
set
to
disabled.

the
Adaptec
RAID
Configuration
Utility
programs
and
SCSISelect
Utility
(also
referred
as
IBM
ServeRAID-8e),
to
add
RAID
level-0
and
level-1
functionality
to
the
integrated
SATA
controller
and
the
integrated
SCSI
controller.
RAID
level-0
is
striping
where
the
drives
are
seen
as
a
single
volume,
and
increases
performances.
RAID
level-1
is
mirroring
where
the
contents
of
one
drive
are
copied
to
the
other
drive
to
increase
hard
drive
availability.

sure
to
use
these
programs
as
described
in
this
document.
