CLEANING THE REFLECTOR AND LAMP
1. Unplug the reflector and allow it to cool.
2. Carefully remove the lamp and set it aside.
3. Mix warm, mild soap and water and apply sparingly to the reflector’s aluminum interior with a clean
washcloth. Dry with a second washcloth. Flip reflector over to cleanse both sides.
NOTE:
Due to its construction, the reflector is susceptible to even the slightest scratch. Be sure to use completely
clean, soft cloths when cleaning the reflector—even a small dust particle, rock, or other hard material may mar
the reflector’s surface.
4. Run a dry, soft washcloth over the lamp to remove dust particles, taking care not to leave any skin oils/
fingerprints on it (wear gloves if possible).
5. Install the lamp back into the lamp holders in the reflector.
HANGING YOUR FIXTURE
1. Make sure your unit is unplugged.
2. Hang the fixture from a strong cord or chain from both ends. Make sure you have hooks screwed solidly
into the studs in the ceiling. If you cannot locate the studs, insert expansion anchors into the ceiling.
The hooks should be rated to hold at least 50 lbs. each.
3. Use the cable tie provided to secure the electrical cord to the hanging cord/chain so that it doesn’t tilt
the fixture.
TIPS
•
The lamp may require 10-30 minutes cooling time before restarting.
•
After you plug in the Radiant DE, the lamp may require several minutes to reach its full brightness.
•
Be aware that in the event of a momentary power interruption, the lamp will not restart
•
Some variation in the color of light emitted by the lamp is not unusual, especially in the first 100 hours of
operation.
•
Never pull the cord to unplug the reflector. Pull the plug only.
•
Avoid scratching the lamp, subjecting it to undue pressure, or getting it wet when it is hot—these actions
may cause the lamp to break.
•
In the event of lamp breakage, immediately unplug the reflector to prevent exposure to ultraviolet energy,
which may be harmful to eyes and skin.
•
Keep room temperature below 95°F, with adequate air circulation by fan in the growing area.
•
The DE lamp produces very high intensity light and was originally designed for high-bay commercial
growing operations. Please take care to consider proximity to plants when installing your fixture. You may
want to allow more vertical space between the plant canopy and the fixture to mitigate the high intensity
light and heat at the canopy surface.
•
Always use a heavy-duty three-pronged grounded timer, rated for at least 15 amps. Many 7-day digital
timers are not rated for 1,000 watt lamps.
