The controller has 4 receptacles and a remote combina on probe, which is
designed to quickly react to changes in the growing area and to resist EMI/EFI
from electronic ballasts. The remote sensor may be placed up to 15 feet from
the controller.
INSTALLING THE CONTROLLER
1. Secure the unit to a wall with the included screws and wall anchors.
2. Determine the best loca on for the remote probe. We recommend placing the probe
at plant level in an area with good air circula on. Avoid placing the probe in direct
sunlight or under direct HID ligh ng. Avoid placing the sensor anywhere it may get wet.
3. Plug the power cable into a standard 120V NEMA 5-15 wall outlet. Ensure all of the
devices being connected to the controller will have proper voltage and do not exceed
maximum amperage for this unit (14.5).
SETTING UP THE OUTLETS AND PROBE
1. Secure the quick disconnect (QD) remote probe to the unit at the bo om of the main
control box. Twist the QD screw ghtly to secure the connec on.
2. Use the
Cooling output
and
Humidity output
120V outlets on the APCETHA controller
for a humidi
fi
er or dehumidi
fi
er.
3. Plug a device into the
CO
2
output
outlet to supply power during the day me. This
device will deac vate at night. The CO
2
device will also deac vate during the day me
when the cooling device is in opera on, to save CO
2
. Note: This outlet does not have
any se ngs that monitor or regulate CO
2
.
4. Use the
Night output
outlet for devices requiring power only during night me. Note:
This outlet supplies power during the night and does not have any other controlling
abili es.
USING THE SETTINGS
1. Turn the
Temperature
knob on the le side of the face plate to adjust the temperature
se ng for the maximum temperature for the grow area. The
Cooling output
LED and
the device connected to the
Cooling output
outlet will ac vate when the temperature
se ng is reached. The temperature control has a deadband se ng of 3 degrees F, so
cooling will remain ac vated un l the temperature is lowered from the setpoint by 3
degrees F.
2. Turn the
Humidity %
knob on the right side of the face plate to adjust the humidity
se ng. When the humidity level reaches the humidity se ng, the
Humidity output
LED ac vates. The humidity control has a deadband se ng of 5% RH, so humidity
remains ac vated un l it is lowered from the setpoint by 5% RH.
3. Press the
Select Mode
bu on to toggle between the three modes of controller
opera on. LED lights indicate the mode. Con nue to press the bu on to cycle through
the modes.
The APCETHA o
ff
ers three modes of opera on:
•
Mode 1
– Temperature and dehumidi
fi
er split. Lowers the temperature and decreases
humidity independently. Thermostat ac vates cooling output and humistat ac vates
dehumidi
fi
er output.
•
Mode 2
– Temperature and dehumidi
fi
er combined. Lowers the temperature and
decreases humidity together. Thermostat and humistat both ac vate cooling output/
dehumidi
fi
er output.
•
Mode 3
– Temperature and humidi
fi
er split. Lowers the temperature and increases
humidity independently. Thermostat ac vates cooling output/humistat ac vates
humidi
fi
er output.
TROUBLESHOOTING
•
The Mode LEDs on the front of the unit are
fl
ashing on and o
ff
.
If an error is detected
with the remote sensor, the unit will
fl
ash the Mode LEDs. Try disconnec ng and
reconnec ng the sensor with the power turned o
ff
.
•
The humidity is increasing instead of decreasing or decreasing instead of increasing.
The humidity can be set to increase or decrease. Check and determine that the correct
mode is being used.
•
The CO
2
is not ac va ng.
The CO
2
output will only be ac vated during the day me
when the
Day me mode (photocell)
LED is illuminated. The photocell is located on the
remote probe. Make sure the remote sensor is receiving enough light. The CO
2
output
will also be deac vated if cooling is ac vated.
•
There is no power.
Reset the power switch
on the bo om of the unit (circuit breaker). If
this con nues, reduce the number of devices
plugged into the controller or use a power
expansion cord to control devices with high
amperage.
NOTES
• A power expansion module may be required
when using a high amperage device such as an
air condi oner or de-humidi
fi
er.
• The APCETHA is not waterproof. Do not place
the sensor probe in an area where it will come
into contact with water.
• Op
onal 15-foot extension cables are available
separately, part number APCEXT, to extend the
reach of the remote sensor up to 30 feet from
the controller.
