MAINTENANCE
Spark plug
The spark plug condition is influenced by:
•
Incorrect carburettor adjustment.
•
An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of
oil).
•
A dirty air filter.
These factors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes,
which may result in operating problems and starting
difficulties.
If the machine is low on power, difficult to start or runs poorly
at idle speed: always check the spark plug first before taking
any further action. If the spark plug is dirty, clean it and check
that the electrode gap is 0.5 mm. The spark plug should be
replaced after about a month in operation or earlier if
necessary.
Note! Always use the recommended spark plug type! Use of
the wrong spark plug can damage the piston/cylinder. Check
that the spark plug is fitted with a suppressor.
Lubricating the bar tip sprocket
Lubricate the bar tip sprocket each time you refuel. Use the
special grease gun and a good quality bearing grease.
Needle bearing lubrication
The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft.
This needle bearing must be lubricated regularly (once a
week).
When lubricating, remove the clutch cover by loosening the
two bar nuts. Lay the saw on its side with the clutch drum
upwards.
Lubrication involves grease being squirted into the centre of
the crankshaft using a grease gun.
Adjustment of the oil pump
The oil pump can be adjusted to give four different oil flow
rates. To adjust the flow rate, first remove the chain, bar, clutch
cover, centrifugal clutch, and the clutch drum. Using a
screwdriver, adjust the oil flow rate by turning the adjuster
screw one way or the other. The projection on the screw
should point towards the chosen setting. The diagram shows
the setting for flow rate 2.
Recommended settings:
Bar 13"-15": Setting 2
Bar 18"-:
Setting 3-4
!
WARNING! The engine must not be running
when making adjustments.
