1.4.3 Cascading Networking

Cascading means that a master MCU is appended with some slave MCUs.

Figure 1-10

shows

cascading networking. By using the cascading technology, you can greatly expand the
capacity of the videoconferencing system.

Cascading networking



The master and slave MCUs are determined when you define a cascading site.



The master and the slave MCUs join in a conference on another MCU as a single site.



Each master MCU can be appended with multiple slave MCUs, while each slave MCU
can be appended to only one master MCU.



MCUs are cascaded through IP lines.

Multi-Channel Cascading

During a single-channel-cascaded conference where only one channel is used between
cascaded MCUs, the following aspects are restricted:



Only one site from a slave MCU can be added to continuous presence.
