Step 6
Run the
cable rf-power-monitor downstream
command to configure the monitoring
frequency of the downstream signal. After power of downstream signals is automatically
adjusted on the CMC run the
display cable rf-power-monitor downstream status
command
to query the Tx power monitoring status of downstream signals.
NOTE
l
You are advised to use the center frequency of the digital CATV channel and center frequency of the
activated downstream DOCSIS channel to serve as the monitoring frequencies.
l
Only one monitoring frequency with CATV type and function of adjust-power type can be
configured (CATV monitoring frequency types include: catv-qam and catv-cw).
l
Only one monitoring frequency with DOCSIS type and function of adjust-power type can be
configured (DOCSIS monitoring frequency types include: doc-scqam).
l
When the Tx power monitoring status of downstream signals is queried, the upper frequency is 1002
MHz. The query for frequencies higher than 1002 MHz is not supported.

6.3 Configuration Example (Automatic Adjustment,
DOCSIS 3.1)
This topic describes an example for configuring automatic intelligent radio frequency (RF)
adjustment. This topic is applied to DOCSIS 3.1 device.
Data plan
l
Supports 32 DOCSIS 3.0 channels (U.S. standard), spectrum range: 111-300 MHz
l
Supports 32 EQAM channels (U.S. standard), spectrum range: 300-500 MHz
l
Spectrum range for digital CATV: 500-700 MHz
l
Spectrum range for analog CATV: 700-800MHz
l
Supports 1 downstream DOCSIS 3.1 OFDM channel, frequency band 192 MHz,
spectrum range: 800-992 MHz
NOTE
OFDM signals are equalized to signals of a 6 MHz channel. There are 32 channels. Therefore, the
system supports 96 channels (DOCSIS 3.0+EQAM+OFDM), and the maximum Tx power (rf-
power) of the DOCSIS module providing OFDM signals is 36 dBmV.
l
rf-power = 60 - ceiling (3.6*log
2
N'). N' = N + N
eq
, N stands for the number of enabled
DOCSIS 3.0 channels, and N
eq
stands for the number of enabled DOCSIS 3.1 channels
equalized to DOCSIS 3.0 channels.
l
N
eq
= frequency band of the DOCSIS 3.1 channel/6. In this equation, frequency band of the
DOCSIS 3.1 channel = Upper-limit frequency – Lower-limit frequency – 2 MHz (that is,
protection frequency band) – Sum of exclusion frequency bands.
l
The maximum frequency is 1218 MHz, type is digital CATV, Tx power of the RF port
with the maximum frequency is 50 dBmV, and the slope is 18 dB.
l
Power difference between digital CATV signals and DOCSIS 3.0 channel signals is 4
dB.
l
Power difference between the DOCSIS 3.1 channel and DOCSIS 3.0 channel is 4 dB.
NOTE
The Tx power of the OFDM channel is 36 dBmV. Therefore, the Tx power of the DOCSIS 3.0
channel is 32 dBmv.
