2.5 Cable Distribution Unit
The M200 cabinet contains an MDF and an ODF inside. The MDF makes the internal
subscriber cables and the external subscriber cables connected with each other. The ODF
makes the optical fibers and the optical communication device connected with each other.
2.5.1 MDF

2.5.1 MDF
This topic provides the capacity related parameters of the MDF used in the M200 cabinet.
The 16-pair exchange side terminal blocks are installed to connect the cables on the
MDF side and the jumper cables. The exchange side terminal blocks are also used for
tests and open circuits.
The 10-pair cable side terminal blocks are installed to connect the external cables of the
MDF and the jumper cables. The protective unit installed in the cable side terminal block
provides the overvoltage protection and generates alarms.
The harness, which consists of a connector, subscriber cables, and a terminal block,
provides connections between the service boards and the MDF.

Principles
By default, the M200 cabinet is configured with only the exchange
side terminal blocks.
When you configure the cabinet with the cable side terminal blocks,
the proportion of the number of the cable side terminal blocks to the
number of the exchange side terminal blocks for the narrowband
services is 1.5: 1, and 1:1 for the broadband services.
