NOTE
Check the optical power attenuation of lines OLT-EDFA-ODF and CATV-EDFA-ODF before
troubleshooting. And the EDFA and ODF in the same equipment room are connected through a fiber
patch cord.

Optical power attenuation between the EDFA input end (A in the figure) and output end (B in the
figure) ≤ 1 dB.
l
Optical power attenuation between the EDFA output end (B in the figure) and the ODF input end
(C in the figure) ≤ 0.5 dB.
l
Optical power attenuation between the ODF input end (C in the figure) and output end (D in the
figure) ≤ 0.5 dB.

Keep the device and fiber end faces clean to avoid fiber damage.

Do not look directly into the laser ports without eye protection in any step to avoid eye
injury.
There are two ways to troubleshoot for abnormal ODF optical power: CATV signal check and
PON signal check. Perform troubleshooting from backward to forward segment by segment
based on the following steps (port IDs in the steps are the same as those in the
).
