Use the “User” and “Password” defined when the Share was created. Make sure you use a fully qualified Domain 
Name in the “Server” field. Do not check the “Encryption” checkbox, as this will cause vRanger to encrypt the 

backups before writing them to the StoreOnce Backup System Share. If encryption is specified, it will generate a 

backup data stream that cannot be deduplicated, reducing the effective backup storage capacity. Specifying 
encryption also adds a processing load to the vRanger backup engine. If encryption is required, it is recommended to 

use regular disk for the vRanger Repository. 

Backup job options 

When configuring backup jobs to the Repository on the StoreOnce Backup System Share, it is recommended to use 

the options shown in Figure 13.
