Installing Hardware Options

Hot-Plug Power Supplies

IMPORTANT:

Do not install the power supplies until after the server is installed in the rack.

Leaving the power supplies out reduces the weight of the server for purposes of rack
installation.

The ProLiant DL580 Generation 2 server supports a second hot-plug power supply to
provide redundant power to the system in the event of a failure in the primary power
supply. You can install or replace a second hot-plug power supply without powering
down the server.

Locating the Power Supplies

Use Figure 5-37 and Table 5-8 to locate the power supplies.
