Upgrading the Subsystem

Figure 5–6: DIMM components

8. If replacing DIMMs (see Figure 5–6):

Press down on the DIMM retaining clip

at both ends of the DIMM

being

removed.

Gently remove the DIMM from the DIMM slot

Insert the new DIMM

straight into the slot, ensuring that the notches in the

DIMM align with the tabs in the slot.

d. Repeat step a through step c for each DIMM.

9. In a dual-redundant controller configuration, repeat step 5 through step 8, as

appropriate, for the other cache module.

IMPORTANT: In a dual-redundant controller configuration, both cache modules must contain
the same memory configuration. DO NOT proceed unless both cache modules contain identical
amounts of cache memory.
