Step 2: Check the Driver Installation

Step 2: Check the Driver Installation

In this step, check that the modem driver is correctly
installed. To do this, verify the resources allocated to the
modem. There are two different areas to check.

In Windows 95 and Windows 98

Click the

Start

button then click

Settings

Control

Panel

Double-click the

System

icon.

Click the

Device Manager

tab.

Double-click

Modem

in the list.

Select

HP Fast Modem with V90

then click the

Properties

button.

Under

Device Status

, there should be written

This

device is working properly

. If this is not the case,

then the driver is incorrectly installed (refer to “If the
Driver is Incorrectly Installed” on page 37).

Click

Cancel

In the

Control Panel

, double-click the

Modems

icon.

In the

Modem Properties

dialog box, select the

Diagnostics

tab. Your HP Fax Modem should be allocated

to one of the COM ports.

If this is not the case, the driver is incorrectly installed
(refer to “If the Driver is Incorrectly Installed” on page
37).
