About This Document
This manual describes the implementation of the Microsoft® Windows® HPC Server 2008 (HPCS)
operating system on HP Cluster Platform models, including HP Cluster Platform Express.
Intended Audience
This document is intended for the person who installs, administers, and troubleshoots servers
and storage systems. Certain operations described in this document, if performed incorrectly,
might cause system crashes and loss of data. Ensure that you have the appropriate expertise
before you begin any operation.
This guide is also intended for HP service representatives and other persons trained to install
and service hardware options in the HP 10000-series racks. Such persons are expected to
understand the hazards of working in this environment and to take suitable precautions to
minimize danger to themselves and others.
How to Read This Document
If you ordered HPCS preinstalled on HP Cluster Platform or HP Cluster Platform Express, follow
the installation instructions in
“Installation Procedure When HPCS is Preinstalled on HP Cluster
Platform and HP Cluster Platform Express” (page 21)
and omit the section
“Installing HPCS
from CD” (page 30)
. If you are installing HPCS from bare metal, follow the instructions in
“Installing HPCS from CD” (page 30)
and omit the section
“Installation Procedure When HPCS
is Preinstalled on HP Cluster Platform and HP Cluster Platform Express” (page 21)
.
Typographic Conventions
