Data Protector Express Installation Guide
•
To create a new domain on this computer, select
Create a new domain
and click
Next
.
When the Create New Data Protector Express management domain screen appears, enter the Data
Protector Express management domain name of the new Data Protector Express management
domain and click
Next
.
3. When the Licenses screen appears (for some editions only), select the appropriate option.
•
Choose
No
if you intend to install the software for a 60-day evaluation period.
•
Choose
Yes
if you have already purchased a license. Enter your license when prompted for it.
If you enter an upgrade key, Data Protector Express will prompt you to enter an old valid key.
4. A window displays a list of the items that will be installed. You can choose to have actions occur
after installation:
•
Open the Data Protector Express Tutorial 1
, which contains an overview of installation,
creating a backup job, and disaster recovery.
•
Start Data Protector Express Administrator
.
Click
F10
to install the listed features.
5. Click
Exit Installation
to quit the installation process. If you are using the Data Protector Express
CD_ROM, remove and store it as soon as the console prompt appears.
NOTE:
On some platforms, you must umount the CD drive to remove the Data Protector Express
CD-ROM.
Custom installation
1. The Install To screen appears. Enter the name of the installation directory and press
F10
. The default
is:
•
SYS:\HP (NetWare)
•
/usr/local/hp (Linux)
•
C:\Program Files\HP (Windows)
It is recommended that you install Data Protector Express in a directory other than the root directory.
The install program creates a subdirectory under the specified location called DPX (NetWare), dpx
(Linux), or Data Protector Express (Windows).
2. The Select Packages window appears. Deselect or select the following options:
•
A shortcut to launch Data Protector Express from your desktop
•
The HP Data Protector Express service
•
Disable remote access:
Installs Data Protector Express without remote access support. Other
machines cannot perform remote administration and remote backups on this machine.
•
Remote administration only:
Installs Data Protector Express on the local machine, but does not
add the node to the database. This setup allows for only remote administration. Devices, disks,
etc. cannot be backed up.
3. The Create or Join Data Protector Express management domain screen appears. Select one of the
following choices:
