Optical drive cable

Optical drive cable (includes cable bracket) 685084-001
Before removing the optical drive cable, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 56 ), and then remove the following components:

WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 64 )
●
Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 70 )
●
Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 76 )
●
Top cover (see Top cover on page 79 )
●
Speakers (see Speakers on page 87 )
●
USB board (see USB board on page 89 )
●
Power connector cable (see Power connector cable on page 91 )
●
Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 93 )
●
System board (see System board on page 102 )
Remove the optical drive cable:
1. Remove the Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screw (1) that secures the optical drive cable and cable bracket
to the base enclosure.
2. Remove the cable bracket (2) and cable (3) .
