Remove the safety pin (see Figure 5b).
While holding the raised lift in place to prevent it from swinging freely, pull and
hold the red knob to release the locking pin (see Figure 5A and 5B).

Swing the lift to the desired open position. The red knob can be released as soon
as the swing away arm clears the locking pin (see Figure 5C).
