How you can save energy!
The room temperatures and
the operating periods of the
heating system have a signi-
ficant influence on the fuel
consumption.
A 1ºC lower room temperature
will result in a fuel saving of up
to 6 %. For this reason, bear in
mind the following tips:
• Avoid room temperatures above
20ºC and adjust your heating
system accordingly.
• It pays to turn the radiators off in
unused rooms, as long as there
is no risk of frost and no damp-
ness damage to the furniture is
to be expected.
• In the main living areas, additi-
onal heat is often generated by
people, televisions, fire places,
tiled stoves and also direct sun
light. These cannot be compen-
sated by a weather dependent
regulation. It may therefore be
worthwhile installing a remote
control (RS 30) and/or a room
sensor, or fitting thermostatic
radiator valves in these rooms.
Unwanted air drafts at home
are not only unpleasant, but
also indicators of heating
energy losses.
You can therefore save fuel if
you...
• Keep the doors and windows
closed in winter.
• Close the chimney flaps when
the fire is out.
• Operate the kitchen and ba-
throom ventilation fans only
when vapours and smells need
to be extracted.
• Only ventilate for short time pe-
riods, but more often.
• Seal doors and windows to pre-
vent constant leakage losses.
Insulation will help retaining
precious heat.
Take advantage of these possi-
bilities and...
• Close the window and door shut-
ters at night.
• Make sure that the heating and
hot water pipes are insulated in
unheated rooms.
Maintaining the temperature of
the radiators as low as possible
will prevent unnecessary heat
losses.
For this reason, it is important
that the radiator can release its
heat into the room without any
obstructions. You should there-
fore avoid:
• Covered radiators
• Windowsills that do not let air
through because they are clut-
tered with objects.
Savings are also possible for
water heating.
• Set the hot water temperature
as low as possible. Find out at
what temperature there is still
sufficient hot water available.
• If you have installed a hot water
circulation pump, it is worth swit-
ching it off during the night with
a timer.
