5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Function test
The function test can be carried out with the device in installed and thus active condition (indication
of arrow or arrow and dot) or in dismounted condition.
Testing with the device in active condition:
The test is carried out by short-circuiting one of the three measuring sockets with the earth socket.
The respective light of the arrow and dot symbol of L1, L2 or L3 will extinguish and the respective tool
symbol appear. The dedicated relay „No Voltage Present“ is switched on.
5.2 Testing with the device in non-active condition (Self-test)
This test can be carried out with the switchgear unit in voltage-free condition. The arrow and dot
symbols are not indicated. When the auxiliary voltage is switched on, the LCD display will be
illuminated and the three tool symbols start flashing. By gently pushing the „Display Test“ button all
symbols of the LCD display will be illuminated for a short time.
5.3 Active zero voltage indication
This will be activated, once the switchgear unit switches to voltage-free condition. The indication is
visualized by three flashing tool symbols at the bottom of the LCD display frame. This indication is
permanently activated with the presence of auxiliary voltage.
If any of the defined indications fails to appear during function testing, this will be a sign
that the integrated voltage detecting system is defect. In this case its indication must not be
made use of for the evaluation of voltage conditions.
