SV2 SERIES REPLACEMENT SOLENOIDS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

For NEMA 4 / IP66 electrical enclosures, loosen the front electrical enclosure retaining 
screws. This will allow easier removal of the solenoid. 

5. 

Proof of Closure disconnection (if present), NEMA 4/IP66 models only: 

a.  Disconnect the applicable POC 1 or POC 2 electrical connector from its socket in the electrical 

enclosure.

b.  Loosen the factory cord grip sealing nut and cord grip. Remove POC connector assembly 

through rear entrance of electrical enclosure, retaining the lock nut.

Solenoid removal:

a.  Remove the solenoid black connector by pressing the tab and pulling down.

b.  Loosen and remove the solenoid set screw then remove the nut. Retain both for re-use.

c.  Lift and remove solenoid from post over the proof of closure assembly (if present), holding the 

electrical enclosure and wires out of the way. 

Installation of New Solenoid Coil

IMPORTANT

•  Ensure the exact same solenoid size and voltage is being replaced. Verify the assembly part numbers are identical before 

beginning installation. Refer to Table 1 and/or the model information on the solenoid assembly installed on the valve.

•  For valve mechanical and electrical installation, follow the SV2 Series Safety Shut-Off Valves installation instruction 

document, 32-00018, which is packed with each valve shipment.

•  Ensure that the SOLENOID 1, SOLENOID 2, POC 1 and POC 2 (if present) internal wiring is properly re-connected per the 

original arrangement. Failure to do so may cause unnecessary fault conditions. 

1. 

Replace and secure solenoid: 

a.  Holding the electrical enclosure and wires out of the way, slide new solenoid onto the post over 

the proof of closure assembly (if present) rotating until the notches line up and the solenoid is 
flush with the valve bonnet.

b.  Replace the nut on top of the solenoid post, hand tightening.

c.  Replace the set screw, tightening to 4-5 Nm (35-45 in-lbf). 

d.  Reconnect the solenoid black connector to the appropriate solenoid.

NOTE: Ensure the solenoid mounted above the 1 on the casting is connected internally to SOLENOID 

1 and the solenoid mounted above the 2 on the casting is connected internally to SOLENOID 2.

Proof of closure re-connection (if present):

a.  Insert the applicable POC electrical connector assembly through the rear entrance of the 

electrical enclosure with the retained lock nut in place. Tighten cord grip to 3.7-4.2 Nm  
(33-38 in-lbf). Tighten cord grip sealing nut.

b.  Re-connect the applicable POC 1 or POC 2 electrical connector in its socket in the electrical 

enclosure.

NOTE: Ensure the POC mounted above the 1 on the casting is connected internally to POC 1 and the  

POC mounted above the 2 on the casting is connected internally to POC 2.

3. 

Tighten the front electrical enclosure retaining screws to 4-5Nm (35-45 in-lbf). 

4. 

Re-install the solenoid cover, tightening the two (2) retaining screws to 2.2-2.35 Nm  
(19.5-20.8 in-lbf)

5. 

Re-install the valve front electrical enclosure, tightening the screws to  
1.26-1.54 Nm (11-13.63 in-lbf).

6. 

Restore power to the valve.

7. 

Perform a wiring check and static checkout as defined below.

8. 

Turn on the gas supply to the valve and open any manual safety shut-off 
valve(s).
