Use this option to enroll the keypad in a 5883
transceiver.
NOTE:
If using
more
than one 5883 transceiver, make
sure you enroll all 5839 keypads in the
same
transceiver
(disconnect others from the system when enrolling). If
using the transmitter function for 5800TM compatible
devices, you must enroll the 5839 keypads in the
transceiver for which the transmitter (TM) function is
enabled.

an alpha keypad with no sounder suppression. Be sure
not to assign the same address to more than one device.

EXITING FROM PROGRAMMING MODE
After all programming of the 5839 keypad is complete, it is
important to exit the programming mode. To do this, press
and hold down keys [1] and [3] at the same time for several
seconds until all 2 x 16 character locations on the LCD
indicate solid black rectangles, then release.
When the following display comes up,

the programming mode.

DELETING ALL ENROLLED WIRELESS KEYPADS
1. Remove power from the 5883 in the controls cabinet by
removing the 4-wire connector.
2. Set DIP switch 1 to OFF and DIP switch 8 to ON.
3. Reapply power and observe that the RED LED turns ON
immediately and remains ON.
4. Record the positions of DIP switches 1 through 8.
5. Set the 8 DIP switches to the
opposite
position recorded
in step 4.
6. Set the 8 DIP switches
back
to the same position
recorded in step 4. (All enrolled 5839s have been deleted
from the 5883 transceiver.)
7. Place DIP switch 8 back to the OFF position to return to
normal 5883 operation.
NOTES:
1. If you determine that the proper ECP address has not
been enrolled in the receiver, perform the above deleting
procedure and re-enroll all the 5839s in order to avoid
erroneous
“
CHECK
”
messages.
2. When in active mode, and a change of status of the
security system occurs (arming state or fault for instance),
the 5839 may take up to 20 seconds to display the change.
