LAWN MOWER TYPE IDENTIFICATION

Throughout this manual, an HRN216 lawn mower’s type is listed 
when the repair procedure varies from other HRN216 types. Refer to 
the serial number label located on the top of the mower deck behind 
the engine to determine the type of an HRN216 lawn mower.

You may also use the information shown below to identify the type of 
HRN216 lawn mower you are repairing.

Models ending with a three-letter type (ex: HRN216

VKA

) use engines that were assembled in Japan and 

have engine serial numbers beginning 

GJATK-

. Models with a four-letter type (ex: HRN216

VKAA

) use 

engines that were assembled in the U.S.A and have engine serial numbers beginning 

GJAUA-

. There are 

no other differences between three and four-letter model types besides the engine manufacturing location.
All model types used throughout this manual are of the three-letter types used in the U.S.A.
