Before troubleshooting:
1. Verify the condition of the battery.
2. Check the ground of the generator and the control box. The control box must be installed in its correct
position in the generator base. The control box mounting bolt is necessary to ground the box and
complete the control circuit ground.
3. Use an ohmmeter to check the fuses and fuse holders.
4. Use the correct length, diameter and capacity fuse.
Troubleshooting Generator Symptoms
a. Push start button, starter motor does not operate. See page 6-444.
b. Push start button, starter turns but the engine doesn’t start. See page 6-447.
c. Push stop button, generator does not stop. See page 6-449.
d. Push start button, engine starts but green light does not come on, and engine stops when the button is
WARNING
High voltage and electrical current present.
Touching the non-insulated portions of the
meter leads or generator wiring can cause
shock or electrocution.
Wear insulated gloves and avoid touching
exposed wiring.
