OPERATION
Do not touch the priming bulb with
the engine running or when tilting up
the outboard motor. The carburetor
could overflow.
INFREQUENT OR
OCCASIONAL USE
If your outboard motor will be used
on an infrequent or intermittent basis,
please refer to the fuel section of the
additional information regarding fuel
deterioration.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Prime the carburetor with gasoline.
(When using the internal fuel tank)
When starting the engine for the first
time after purchasing an outboard
motor, or when starting the engine
after draining the gasoline (p. 35).
(When using the portable fuel tank)
Connect the fuel line (p. 38) and
prime the engine using the priming
1. Put the emergency stop switch clip
in the emergency stop switch, and
attach the emergency stop switch
lanyard securely to the operator or
to the PFD (Personal Flotation
Device) equipped to an operator.
The engine will not start or run unless
the emergency stop switch clip is in
the emergency stop switch.
The emergency stop switch clip and
emergency stop switch lanyard
system is a safety device that will
stop the engine if you fall away from
the controls while operating the boat.
Always attach the emergency stop
switch lanyard securely to the
operator or to the PFD equipped to an
operator before starting the engine.
