Playing Music via USB

When the DSPre once has been configured you can use ANY computer to play sound via
USB without having to install HOLMFIR - that is any computer supporting the USB 1.1
audio standard.

The most commonly used operative systems support this standard as Plug’n’Play without
having to install any special drivers:

•

Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista

•

Mac OS X

•

Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, RedHat, SUSE, ...)

Best sound quality

It is possible to achieve an extremely high digital signal quality (the same as from a CD-
player), if some software requirements are fullfilled:

•

The software USB - ’Speaker volume’ should be 100 % (maximum)

•

The samplerate should be 44.100 kHz
- hence

’44.100kHz LOCK’

in the DSPre display

•

No other applications than your music player should stream audio to the DSPre

Recording via USB

Any source can be recorded via the DSPre, but recording is of course most relevant when
using an analog source such as a turntable or a FM-tuner.
