Automatic Crash
Reporting System (ACRS)
This vehicle is equipped with an
Automatic Crash Reporting System
(ACRS), which is capable of
recording, storing, and transmitting
pre-crash and post-crash data in the
event the vehicle is involved in a
crash.
This data could include:
.
Information about the vehicle,
such as the Vehicle Identification
Number (VIN) and device
indicator;
.
Information about the crash,
such as the location, direction,
speed of the vehicle and the
change in speed of the vehicle;
.
Information about the
performance or status of other
systems in the vehicle, such as
airbag deployment, ignition
status, seatbelt status, and
battery diagnostic information.
In the event the ACRS detects that
the vehicle has been in a crash (for
example, where the vehicle's
sensors indicate an airbag
deployment or near deployment,
rollover, or near rollover, or if there
had been a rear impact), the ACRS
will automatically transmit certain
vehicle and crash data using
wireless communication networks to
OnStar
®
LLC, a wholly owned
subsidiary of General Motors

In some post-crash situations, GM
may find it necessary to periodically
access data relating to the vehicle,
such as the status of certain
components, like the vehicle's
battery, and the location of the
vehicle, to determine whether
additional measures, including
disconnecting the battery, are
required to protect the vehicle from
further damage or for safety
reasons. The data may continue to
be accessed at various intervals for
a period of up to 30 days following
the crash.
OnStar

may provide some or all of
this information to authorised
engineers and safety experts
at GM. All data will be transmitted
using the appropriate technical,
administrative, and physical
safeguards.
