J3-CUB
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Flying
Take-off:
1. Extend transmitter antenna all the way and check plane responds properly to transmitter the signals.
2.
P
lace the model on the ground facing into wind.
H
old in up elevator then gently open the throttle keeping the
model straight with the rudder, ease of the elevator so that the tail rises a little and then the model will take off
when it is ready.
3. After taking off climb out straight and at a shallow angle using full throttle. If the plane doesn't climb
then ease in a bit more up elevator. After reaching an altitude of about 40m, begin making gentle circular
circuits using the ailerons and small amounts of up elevator. You can also hand launch the model if the take-
off area has long grass or is bumpy. Face into wind and with the model at full throttle give it a good throw
from just above shoulder height. Be careful not to over control the plane near the ground, just keep it steady
and straight and climb to a safe height. At this point you should start to make circular climbs as before.
Flight:
1. The plane should fly level at around 50% throttle.
2. The flight time will be prolonged with the less throttle you use. The Cub does not re
q
uire full throttle all the time,
it flies much nicer at lower throttle settings. Full power should only be used for take off and for gentle aerobatics.
Landing:
When the battery starts to runs low, the auto-cut out may stop the propeller from rotating, if this happens, do not
panic, the model will glide in very nicely. To position the plane upwind of the landing area at a height of approx
40m, close the throttle and gently turn downwind.
R
emember when flying downwind to keep the airspeed up, it
will appear to be flying faster due to the wind being behind it, this is normal. Once just passed yourself and still
heading downwind do a gentle turn back into the wind inline with the landing area. Allow the model to descend
with sufficient airspeed, when it gets to about a metre from the ground gently ease in a bit of up elevator until the
model is flying level with the ground. As it sinks to the ground keep gently applying up elevator until it lands.
Tips
1.Train yourself with the FMS (Flight Model Simulator) before you fly the J3
Electric RIC airplane. It will help you with coordination for when fly your model.
2.Fly the J3 at low speed throttle settings until you get used to the directional control of the plane.
Please remember when the plane flies towards you the control direction is reversed.
3.Fly with the assistance of an experienced pilot for your first flights.
4.Do not fly in strong winds.
5.Always face into the wind when taking off and landing.
6.Do not fly the plane over your head, this can lead to disorientation, always fly the plane in front of the
flight line and never behind and always upwind, especially when you are training..
?.Please consider purchasing a spare battery pack for longer flights.
8.Do not fly this plane with damaged or broken parts this may result in accidents or injury.
Please contact our local dealer for replacement spare parts.
