(2) Cartridge Installation (See Fig. 2)

(a) Carefully install the new cartridge into the housing. Avoid bumping the cartridge tubes against
the housing sealing flange. Seat the cartridge properly within the housing. Press all edges and
corners of the cartridge firmly with fingers to effect a positive air seal against the sealing flange of
the housing.

CAUTION: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THE CARTRIDGE BE POUNDED OR STRUCK
IN THE CENTER TO EFFECT A SEAL.

(b) Lock the cartridge in place by installing the baffle assembly

Refer to Section 4-3; Fig. 5A. This air cleaner is a dry type which may be cleaned as many as six
times before replacing it with a new air cleaner. A definite time schedule for cleaning or changing the
air cleaner cannot be determined because of varying operating conditions. However, since this air
cleaner can be removed and replaced without difficulty on this generator set

(simply by loosening one

metal clamp on each end of the air cleaner)

, it may be inspected either at prescribed service intervals

or at any time deemed necessary.

(1) Inspecting the Air Cleaner

(a) Make periodic checks of air cleaner inlet screen for obstructions. If any obstructions are pre-
sent, remove them.

(b) Check outlet connection for proper seal.

NOTE

: DO NOT judge the element’s life just by looking at it, IT SHOULD LOOK DIRTY, or it’s not doing

its job.
