Use
The front brake has a stronger retarding effect than the rear brake.
Practice the targeted use of the front brake to familiarise yourself with its
power.
If you apply the front brake strongly, there is a risk of rollover: your
rear wheel could lift up, causing you to fall over the handlebars.
→ Pull the left brake lever less strongly or release the brake lever if you
notice that the rear wheel rises.
The brake system has a fully automatic pad equalisation system. This compensates
for wear of the brake pads and ensures that the pressure point of the brake always
remains constant.
Avoid longer weak braking, brake „short and crisp“ instead. Why? With
longer weak braking the surface of the brake pads heats up strongly, the
brake pads can „vitrify“ (), i.e. the surface becomes mirror-smooth and
the coefficient of friction decreases strongly. In dry conditions squeaking
brakes with poor braking performance indicate „vitrified“ brake pads.
Remedy: Remove the brake pads and sand them down until the surface
no longer reflects.
Risk of burns on brake discs and brake callipers after long downhill runs!
→ Do not touch the brake discs with your hands after long downhill runs.
4.5. Rebound and compression adjustment of suspension
The adjustment of the spring elements to your weight is explained in section 2.4.
In addition you have the following easy adjustment possibilities on fork and shock:
The
compression stage
adjustment (outli-
ned in red) regulates the speed of the spring
element deflection. Closing the compression
stage reduces the chassis rocking and decre-
ases the sensitivity of the spring elements.
At the damper you close the compression stage
by turning the black lever (Climb Switch).
