Adjust Spring Trip:
Spring tension is set at the factory: the top end of the eye bolts are 2 ¼” above steel plate.
Under normal circumstances spring tension should not require any adjustment. After a period of time or heavy use, the
spring trip cutting edge may begin tripping too easily, then adjustment to the tension of the spring system may be required.
There are two tension springs on each side of
the SB3000 and four tension springs on each
side of the SB4, 5 & 6000 series snow blade.
Each spring is held under tension by an eye bolt
attached to the trip linkage mount with a locknut.
Before making adjustments, check all the
components of the spring trip system for loose,
damaged, or broken components.
• To increase tension on the springs, turn the
locknut clockwise, start with 2 full turns.
• Proceed to turn the locknut on each spring,
• Each locknut must be tightened the same
number of turns to avoid damage caused by
mismatched tension on the springs.
If the cutting edge continues to trip easily, make
further adjustments: 2 full turns at a time until the
spring trip is working properly.
Two full turns
Check the entire trip system for loose, damaged or
broken components before adjusting tension.
