CORDLESS BAND SAW SAFETY
WARNINGS
1.
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces,
when performing an operation where the cutting
accessory may contact hidden wiring
. Cutting
accessory contacting a "live" wire may make exposed
metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the
operator an electric shock.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY WARNINGS
1. Do not allow foreign matter to enter the hole for
connecting the battery.
2. Never disassemble the battery and charger.
3. Never short-circuit the battery. Shortcircuiting the battery
will cause a great electric current and overheat. It results
in burn or damage to the battery.
4. Do not dispose of the battery in
fi
re. If the battery is burnt,
it may explode.
5. Bring the battery to the shop from which it was purchased
as soon as the post-charging battery life becomes too
short for practical use. Do not dispose of the exhausted
battery.
6. Do not insert object into the air ventilation slots of the
charger. Inserting metal objects or in
fl
ammables into the
charger air ventilation slots will result in electrical shock
hazard or damaged charger.
7. Make sure that the area to be cut is absolutely free of any
hidden obstructions including electrical wiring, water, or
gas pipes. Cutting into the aforementioned may result in
electric shock or short circuit, gas leak or other hazards
that can cause serious accidents or injuries.
8. Make sure to securely hold the tool during operation.
Failure to do so can result in accidents or injuries.
9. Prior to operation, be sure the blade pulley cover is
closed and fastened with screws.
Operating the tool with the blade pulley cover open may
result in injury.
10. During operation, do not put your hands, face, or other
body parts near the rotating band saw blade or other
rotating parts. Doing so may result in injury.
11. If the main unit is accidentally dropped or su
ff
ers any
impact, carefully inspect the band saw blade, the
unit, etc. to be sure there are no damages, cracks, or
deformations.
Injury may result if there are any damages, cracks, or
deformations.
12. During operation, if the unit is not running smoothly,
or there are abnormal sounds or vibrations, promptly
switch o
ff
the unit, discontinue use and contact a Hitachi
Authorized Service Center for inspection and/or repairs.
Continuing use under these conditions may result in
injury.
13. When using this unit continuously, the unit may overheat,
leading to damage in the motor and switch. Please leave
it without using it for approximately 15 minutes.
14. Follow the instruction manual and make sure that the
band saw blade and accessories are properly installed.
Improper installation may result in injury from parts
coming loose.
15. Securely fasten the workpiece to be cut.
If the workpiece is not securely fastened, it may shift
position and cause damage to the band saw blade and/
or injury.
16. To avoid having the band saw blade clamped between
the cut surfaces during or immediately after cutting, set
up a support stand to bear the weight of the workpiece,
placing it near the section to be cut.
If the band saw blade becomes clamped, it may result in
injury.
17. If the section to be cut o
ff
is large, set up another stable
support stand to bear the weight of that section as well.
Not using such a support may result in injury.
18. During operation, do not wear cloth work gloves or other
similar hand protection that may get caught in the unit.
Getting caught in the rotating section of the tool may
result in injury.
19. Prior to operation, verify the safety of the surrounding
area and run the blade brie
fl
y to make sure that there
are no abnormalities in the vibrations of the unit or in the
band saw blade.
If there are such abnormalities, unexpected movements
may occur and cause injury.
20. When working in a high location, ensure that there are no
people below.
Dropping the workpiece or the cordless tool from a high
location may result in an accident.
21. Do not apply any sudden impact to the workpiece with
the band saw blade.
Doing so may damage the band saw blade and/or result
in injury.
22. Use the product’s own weight or press gently to cut a
workpiece.
Applying unnecessary force while cutting can result in
detachment of or damage to the band saw blade which
may cause injury.
23. Do not touch the band saw blade, the workpiece, or
shavings with bare hands immediately after cutting, as
they will be hot.
Doing so may result in burns.
24. Remove any shavings adhering to the band saw blade
or blade pulley rubbers as well as any shavings that
accumulates inside the frame.
The shavings may cause the band saw blade to detach
or slip, and result in injury.
25. Do not break or apply any strong impact to the switch
panel.
26. Install the battery properly.
If the battery is not installed properly, it may fall o
ff
and
cause injury.
27. When adjusting the amount of protrusion of the guide
plate, be sure to switch o
ff
the power and detach the
battery from the cordless tool to avoid any accidents.
28. Do not stare into the LED light or expose your eyes
directly to the light from the LED light.
