7.  MAINTENANCE

HS modules are designed for long life and require negligible maintenance.

No routine maintenance is required. However it is advisable to perform periodic inspection

of  the  modules  checking  for  damages  front/back  glass,  junction  box  or  external  electrical
connections.

In  order  to  ensure  proper  operation  of  the  system,  please  check  periodically  all  wiring

connections searching for loose connections, corrosion and the state of the wire insulation

Always follow this warning:

Do  not  touch  the  solar  modules  or  the  mounting  structures  with  your  bare  hands

during

the cleaning process. When these surfaces are exposed to sunlight they can become extremely
hot. Protective gloves should be worn when touching the system components.

7.1  Cleaning

Over  the  life  of  a  solar  module,  dust  and  dirt  particles  accumulate  on  the  surface  of  the

module. This build up can reduce the performance of the module. Normally, the buildup of dust
particles  will  be  washed  away  by  periodic  rainfall,  but  for  some  instances  module  surface
cleaning  may  be  required.  To  ensure  maximum  solar  module  performance,  HelioSphera
recommends  cleaning  the  module  surface  with  water  or  a  conventional  glass  cleaner.  It  is
strongly recommended to clean the modules early in the morning or at times when the module
temperature is close to the ambient temperature, in order to avoid sudden temperature changes
of  the  module,  which  could  lead  to  glass  breakage.  A  micro-fiber  cleaning  cloth  is
recommended.

No  aggressive  and  abrasive  cleansers  or  chemicals  should  ever  be  used  on  the  front

glass. No alkali based chemicals products should be used, including ammonia based solutions.

Cleaning  should  only  be  performed  by  the  system  installer  or  someone  with  equivalent

protection safety training. If you are going up onto the roof to clean the modules, ensure that the
appropriate fall protection is being used.
