● Identification in accordance with Directive at least

II (2) G.

The motor protection switch must be wired in

accordance with wiring diagram Fig. D. The motor

protection switch should be set to the nominal motor

current (not

I

max

).

Prescribed setting/tripping values for motor protecti-

on switch, see rating plate.

The switch must trip in the event of a short-circuit.

Once all causes of faults have been eliminated, the

connected motor must not start up again automati-

cally. It may only be switched on again manually

(switch-on inhibit).

7 Duties of the installer and the operating

company

The fan may only be operated at permissible ambi-

ent and airstream temperatures of -20 to +50 °C and

only if fully mounted.

The fan should be regularly checked and maintained

by an electrician trained in explosion protection

 Chapter 19.

Cleaning and maintenance intervals should be

determined by the operating company in accor-

dance with EN 60079-17 – frequency depends on

ambient conditions and anticipated limitations.

Shorten the maintenance intervals in the event

of dust or a corrosive atmosphere.

Additional

safety requirements should be

observed

during mounting and operation, e.g. in

accordance with

EU Directive 1999/92/EC, ATEX 137: implemen-

ted in Germany with the Ordinance on Industrial

Safety and Health.

EN 60079-14: Design, selection and erection of

electrical installations.

the national accident prevention requirements.

8  Safety instructions for users

!

DANGER

Explosion hazard due to spark formation if

foreign bodies are inserted into the unit.

Do not

insert any objects in the unit.

!

CAUTION

Danger of injury due to rotating impeller and

suction. Hair, clothing, jewellery etc. may be

pulled into the fan if you get too close to it.

During operation always keep far enough away to

prevent this from happening.

!

CAUTION

Risks for people (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory or mental capabili-

ties or a lack of knowledge.

The fan may not be

used or cleaned by children or people with reduced

capabilities.

!

CAUTION

Hot motor surfaces may result in skin burns if

touched.

Do not touch hot motor surfaces. Always

wait until the motor has cooled down.

Switching unit on / off

The fan is switched on or off with an optional switch.

The fan is designed for continuous operation (S1).

Frequently switching on/off may result in improper

heating and should be avoided.

10  Reversing mode

Fan not suitable for reversing mode.

11

Action to take in the event of a fault

Check whether the motor protection switch has

responded. Unplug the fan from the mains in the

event of operational disturbances. Before switching

on again, have trained specialists perform trou-

bleshooting and remedy faults found. This applies

in particular after the motor protection switch has

tripped. If faults reoccur, send the unit to our factory

for repairs.

Mounting of unit by electrician

trained in explosion protection

12  Safety instructions

Under no circumstances use the unit for purpos

-

es other than those for which it was intended

Chapter 5.

!

DANGER

!

Danger from electric shock.

Whenever work-

ing on the fan, release the supply current circuits,

secure to prevent them from switching on again

and ensure the unit is de-energised. Attach warning

sign in clearly visible place. Ensure that there is no

explosive atmosphere.

!

Explosion hazard. Degree of protection is

not ensured if the cables are incorrectly insert-

ed into the terminal box.

Ensure degree of protection by correctly inserting

the cables into the terminal box.

!

Explosion hazard when operating with unit

not fully mounted and if air inlet/outlet is not

correctly protected.

The fan may only be operated if the unit is fully

mounted and with the protective devices

(EN 60529)

for the air channel fitted. Ensure that

foreign bodies cannot be sucked into the unit and

ducts.

!

Explosion hazard/danger of injury from an

incorrectly mounted fan or a falling fan.

Only mount on walls/ceilings with sufficient

load-bearing capacity and sufficiently dimensioned

mounting material. Mounting material is to be

supplied by the customer. During installation, do

not allow people to stand under the installation

location.

!

Explosion hazard due to incorrect adjust-

ment.

The rotating fan parts were adjusted in the man-

ufacturer's factory. The unit must not therefore be

taken apart. The temporary removal of the terminal

box cover during unit installation is the only excep-

tion to this restriction.

NOTICE

: Damage to the unit

Loss of IP degree of protection if fan is mount-

ed in damp rooms with air being transported

upwards.

Do not mount the fan in damp rooms

with air being transported upwards.

13  Transport, storage

!

DANGER

Danger from unit falling if transporting with

unauthorised transport equipment.

Use lifting and transport equipment suitable and

approved for the fan and transport weight.

Do not stand under a suspended load.
Note weight and centre of gravity (centre).

Observe the maximum permitted loading capacity

for lifting gear and means of transport. For total

weight

 rating plate on fan.

During transport

do not place load on sensitive

components

, such as impeller or terminal box.

Fit transport equipment correctly.

!

CAUTION

Risk of cuts from metal housing plates

with sharp edges.

Wear personal protec-

tive equipment (cut-resistant gloves) for

installation.

Only ship unit in original packaging.

Store unit in dry location (-25 to +55 °C).

NOTICE

: Damage to the unit

Units with pre-installed line feedthrough to the

terminal box may be damaged if the connec-

tion line is pulled or the unit is lifted using the

line.

Do not pull connection lines or lift the unit

using the lines.
