7. Troubleshooting
MALFUNCTION
POSSIBLE CAUSE
REMEDY
The pump does not
start.
The compressed air supply is
closed or blocked.
Internal mechanism is not suf-
ficiently lubricated.
Ensure that compressed air is reaching
the pump.
Insert a couple of drops of oil into the
compressed air hose.
The pump fails to
operate under load.
Compressed air pressure is too
low. Air filter is contaminated or
blocked.
Ensure that the supply pressure (com-
pressed air) of the pump is between 5
and 7 bar.
The pump operates
but does not pressur-
ize the oil.
Oil is leaking from the hydraulic
system.
Leakage point on the pump.
Oil level too low.
Check whether there is a leak and repair
where necessary.
Check whether the pump is leaking, and if
so return it to the manufacturer for repair.
Check the oil level and top up if neces-
sary.
The pump does not
reach maximum pres-
sure.
Compressed air pressure is too
low.
Safety valve out of adjustment.
Oil is leaking from the hydraulic
system.
Ensure that the supply pressure (com-
pressed air) of the pump is between 5
and 7 bar.
Contact the manufacturer.
Check whether there is a leak and repair
where necessary.
The pump generates
pressure but the load
does not move.
Overloading. The oil does not
circulate correctly.
Reduce the load.
Check whether the lines are trapped
or blocked, and whether the cylinder is
defective.
The piston com-
presses although the
"RELEASE" pedal has
not been pressed.
Oil is leaking from the hydraulic
system.
Defect in the pump.
Check whether there is a leak and repair
where necessary.
Check the leakage point in the pump and
contact the manufacturer.
The piston does not
compress (single-
action cylinder).
Oil supply trapped or plug con-
nection incorrectly connected.
In the case of return under the
force of gravity: deficient load-
ing on the cylinder.
Cylinder springs defective.
Cylinder drain valve malfunc-
tions.
Check oil supply.
Weigh down cylinder.
Repair cylinder.
Repair cylinder.
The piston does not
retract (dual-action
cylinder).
Oil supply trapped or plug con-
nection incorrectly connected.
Cylinder drain valve malfunc-
tions.
Check oil supply.
Repair cylinder.
Insufficient pump
output.
Compressed air pressure is too
low.
Air filter is contaminated or
blocked.
Tank has not been bled.
Ensure that the supply pressure (com-
pressed air) of the pump is between 5
and 7 bar.
Bleed the tank as described in chapter
3.6.
