GETTING STARTED
Accessories
Your TDB353 drill is supplied with the following
accessories:
• Auxiliary handle
• Depth gauge
• 100 various drill bits
CAUTION:
Always ensure that the drill is
switched off and plug is removed from the
power point before making any adjustments.
Changing the drill bits
1. The drill features a keyless chuck for greater
convenience of use.
2.To insert a drill bit or other accessory, open
the chuck (5) by holding the rear section
of the chuck firmly and rotating the front
section in an anti-clockwise direction,
sufficient to allow the drill bit to be inserted
into the jaws of the chuck.
3. Ensure the drill bit is fully inserted.
4. Holding the rear section of the chuck firmly,
rotate the front section of the chuck clockwise
until the jaws tighten on the drill bit.
5.To remove the drill bit, repeat Step 2.
WARNING!
Do not attempt to tighten the
chuck by gripping the front part and turning
the drill on. Damage to the tool and personal
injury may result. Be sure to tighten the chuck
with one hand on the rear portion and the
other on the front portion of the chuck to
achieve maximum tightness.
Auxiliary handle
1. Turn the handle (6) anti-clockwise to loosen the
collar and slip it over the clutch onto the drill.
2. Adjust the position of the handle to suit
the application, add the depth gauge (7) if
required and tighten the handle to secure it
in place.
Forward/reverse switch
The forward/reverse lever switch determines
the direction of rotation of the tool and serves
as a lock off button.
1. To select forward rotation, release the
trigger switch and push the forward/reverse
lever switch to the left side of the tool.
2. To select reverse, push the forward/reverse
lever switch to the right side of the tool.
WARNING!
When changing the position of the
lever switch be sure the trigger is released and
the motor is stationary.
NOTE:
The first time the tool is run after
changing the direction of rotation, you may
hear a click on start up. This is normal and
does not indicate a problem.
Variable speed control
This trigger switch (1) is an electronic variable
speed control which enables the user to vary
the speed continuously.
The speed varies according to how far the
trigger switch is depressed, the further it is
depressed the faster the chuck will rotate and
the lighter it is depressed, the slower it will
rotate.
Hammer action drilling
Selecting hammer action or normal drilling
1. Use the hammer action selector (8) to select
hammer or drill action. The type of drilling
selected is indicated by the symbol on each
side of the drill.
2. Push the selector to for hammer action.
3. Push the selector to
for drill action.
CAUTION.
Change the the mode of action
only when the drill has come to a complete
standstill.
NOTE.
Hammer action drilling is only possible
with forward action.
OPERATION
Switching on and off
1. Connect the plug to the power point.
2. Start the tool by squeezing the on/off
trigger switch (1). Release the trigger to
stop the tool.
3. If you press the lock on button (2) while the
trigger switch is depressed, the switch is
kept in the operating position.
4. To release the lock on button, press and
release the trigger switch.
