CONTROLS

ON/START 

•  Turn on unit.

 

•  Start game (or begin new game from stage 1 

after a GAME OVER).

 

•  Start each stage.

 

•  Exit pause (and continue play).

PAUSE 

•  Pause game. (The game will also pause 

automatically when you complete a stage.  
Press ON/START button when you’re ready to 
begin the next stage!)

SOUND 

•  Turn sound ON or OFF.

OFF 

•  Turn off unit. (Automatically switches off after 

three minutes of inactivity.)

ACL 

•  Reset unit. (See battery insertion info above.)

 

•  Move left.

 

•  Move right.

 

•  Jump up.

 

•  Move down (after jumping up).

TAILS 

•  Call for Tails to airlift you out of danger or take 

you to areas which are otherwise unreachable.

SPIN 

•  Perform your famous “Spin Dash” attack.

 

•  Enter GUMBALL BONUS STAGE once tiny stars 

appear.

PICK 

•  Pick up gold Rings and Chaos Emeralds  

when they appear.

You’ll score points for all your hard work:

50 POINTS

for each gold Ring you pick up.

100 POINTS

for defeating Rhinobots, Monkey Dudes, 
Catakillers, and Bugernauts.

200 POINTS

for defeating the Mega Chopper, Pointdexter, 
and Tunnelbot.

2000 POINTS

for picking up the Emerald (after defeating  
Dr. Eggman) in stages 1–5.

4000 POINTS

for defeating Dr. Eggman (2000 points) and 
picking up the Emerald (an extra 2000 points) 
at the end of stage 6.
