2) The next step is to remove the PA Block from the transmitter. Depending on
your model of transmitter the amount of work to perform this modification will
vary. Figure 3 below is an example of a 1kW transmitter system. To disconnect
a single PA Block follow the steps below. Use figures 3, 4, 5, and 6 for
reference.
a. Unplug the AC mains connection(s).
b. Disconnect the ribbon cable from “STATUS/CTRL A”.
c. Disconnect the ribbon cable from “STATUS/CTRL B”. This could be a
termination instead of a cable depending on the model of transmitter you
have.
d. Disconnect the RF input cable.
e. Disconnect the cable from the RF output of the PA Block. Take care to
not flex the cable while loosening the connector from the PA Block. Keep
the cable as straight as possible.
f. If there is more than one PA Block in the system there will be at least
one combiner present as is shown in figure 3. The combiner(s) can be
left in the system while removing one of the PA Blocks at a time for the
rework process. See figures 5 and 6 to identify the screws that must
removed to detach the combiner from the PA Block that is to be
removed.
Only remove the screws from the PA Block that is to be
removed from the transmitter!
