Clean the bulkhead adapter and internal connector with either a 2.5 mm optical
connector swab or bulkhead adapter cleaning tools such as the Seikoh-Giken
FerruleMate.

If alcohol is used in above step, finish with a dry swab or bulkhead adapter cleaning tools.
5.
Inspect the bulkhead adapter for cleanliness with a video inspection scope, if available.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the adapter and internal connector meet applicable
cleanliness requirements.

5.2 Fan
Replacement
NOTE:
The fan assembly mounted on the HMC 4001 carrier may be replaced without removing or
disabling the SUPRALink 7110-Exx module. Under normal headend and central office environmental
conditions, the transmitter can operate without fan cooling for a limited time.
Should a fan failure occur, contact Harmonic’s technical service (see
To replace the fan:
1.
Disconnect the fan’s power cable.
2.
Remove the four Phillips head screws, shown in
on page 29, that secure the
fan to the module housing.
3.
Replace the failed fan unit with a new fan unit.
4.
Secure the new fan unit with the four Phillips head screws.
5.
Reconnect the power cable.
