SOFTWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Harman Kardon is pleased to offer this product update, which improves the performance of your BDS and
addresses software issues. The BDS uses internal flash memory that is upgradable by loading the new
software on a standard USB memory stick, then docking it in the BDS USB port.
Online upgrade is also possible.
The 2.85.0 software release adds the following features:

Improves HDMI-compatibility with certain TVs to prevent the BDS from freezing.
These changes from the previous software releases are also included:
•
Blu-ray material with 6.1-channel audio now includes center channel.
•
DTS HDMA 5.1 material through an HDMI input now includes center channel when selecting 5
channel stereo mode.
•
FLAC Audio codec support.
•
5-Channel Stereo added (BDS 580 only).
•
Software stability and performance.
•
HDMI ARC and CEC performance.
•
System stability improvements.
•
Improved system functionality.
•
Added features: v-Tuner, YouTube.
•
Improves v-Tuner.
Important Note
This software is designed for use with Harman Kardon BDS 280 and 580 only. Use with any other models or
brands may cause damage to the product.
DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE WITH ANY OTHER PRODUCT!
System Requirements
You need a Windows computer and an empty FAT-32 USB memory stick in order to update your BDS unit.
(Please note that if your BDS unit is connected to the internet via cable or wireless network, you can
update directly from the BDS’s menu system.)
Prearrangements
Unpack the downloaded software-package to the USB stick.
You should now see an UPG folder on the USB stick.
Remove the USB stick from the computer.
You are now ready to perform the upgrade.
